Membership

At City Life, we believe that membership is more than identifying the place where you attend a worship service. For us, membership is belonging to a group of people committed to the Lord, to one another, and to the vision God has given us. At City Life, we long to demonstrate and declare the goodness of Jesus from the heart of Wichita to the world, and we aim to do this by helping every person grow in Christ, connect with others in authentic relationships, and engage in the mission of making disciples. Becoming a covenant member is a willing pledge and commitment to care for, support, and love the brothers and sisters who belong to City Life Church as we pursue this vision together.

STEPS TO MEMBERSHIP

Step 1: Discover Class

Anyone interested in taking a step toward membership is invited to attend one of our Discover Classes to learn more about our church. We offer at least three Discover classes a year (fall, spring, and summer), led by one of our pastors or staff.

Step 2: Connect with an Elder

Once you have made the decision to become a covenant member, we will have a pastor, staff member or elder meet with you so that we can get to know you in a one-on-one format. This meeting is a time to hear from you – learn your background, your faith journey, how you came to become familiar with City Life, etc. In this meeting, we will take time to make sure your questions are answered about the church. We will also discuss getting you involved in a City Group (if you’re not already in one) and finding an area to plug in and serve.

Step 3: Baptism

Baptism is a sign and seal (a covenant act) of a disciple’s union with Christ. It is the first step of obedience in following Jesus, and a public declaration of faith. For this reason, we desire every covenant member to be a baptized believer. If you have not already been publicly baptized as a believer, this is a prerequisite for membership.

Step 4: Affirmation of Covenant Membership

New covenant members will be affirmed and celebrated during one of our Sunday worship gatherings.
